After about seven years of driving various SUVs here, I've picked up a few things about what actually keeps them running without constant headaches. My current ride is a 2019 Tahoe that I plan to keep for a while, so I've been paying more attention to maintenance instead of just reacting when something breaks. One thing that surprised me is how much the battery matters, not just for starting but for all the electronics that these big cars have. My last one started acting weird, lights dimming, slow crank, before it finally gave up, and when I had it replaced the guy gave me some expert tips for maintaining SUV batteries that I'd never heard before. Things like making sure the terminals are always clean because corrosion builds up faster here, and not letting the car sit for too long without driving because the parasitic drain is higher on these vehicles. He also mentioned that the vibration from a big V8 can shake apart a cheap battery internally, which explained why my previous ones didn't last. Since following that advice and being more careful about what I buy, I haven't had any issues. The right battery plus a little attention makes a huge difference apparently. Thought I'd pass that along for anyone else with a big SUV.
