In most modern residential elevators, a separate machine room is NOT required. Today’s popular home lift technologies, especially MRL (Machine-Room-Less) traction elevators and compact platform lifts, are designed so that the motor and control components are integrated within the shaft structure itself. This makes installation easier, saves space, and is ideal for existing homes where additional construction is not feasible.

As for the pit, it depends on the model you choose. Traditional lifts required a deep pit, but modern residential elevators typically need only a shallow pit of 100–300 mm. In many retrofit homes where pit depth is not possible, pit-less options are available. These lifts rest directly on the finished floor or use a small ramp, making installation quick and less invasive.

Because of these advancements, installing a residential lift in Delhi and other metro cities is more convenient than ever, even in builder floors, duplexes, and bungalows with space constraints. A site visit determines whether you need a shallow pit or a pitless setup. You can contact experts for the best quality residential elevators in Delhi.
