Downloading the AetherSX2 APK is not necessary for Mac users, as APK files are specifically designed for Android devices and are not natively supported on macOS. Instead, Mac users who want to emulate PlayStation 2 games should look for a macOS-compatible emulator such as PCSX2, which is a well-established and actively developed PS2 emulator available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. If a Mac user still wants to run AetherSX2, they would need to install an Android emulator like BlueStacks or NoxPlayer, but this adds extra steps and may affect performance.

True, Mac users don’t need the AetherSX2 APK at all. I remember trying to set it up on my phone—everything was installed and ready, but the games wouldn’t run until I got the AetherSX2 PS2 BIOS download for Android. Without that, the emulator just wouldn’t start, which is exactly where most people get stuck or give up. Once I added the BIOS, it worked flawlessly. For Mac, sticking with PCSX2 is much easier, but for Android gamers, that BIOS file is absolutely essential to get any PS2 game running.
